Other Displays In the Museum
These are some other displays in the museum for the event. They are so colourful!

Chess Set
This is one of the display in the room. Chess is supposed to be a traditional game played by the Indians. Is it originated from there? I have no idea. All I know is that the chess set is quite pretty. That's why I took a photo of it.

Our Art Pieces
Here are some samples of art pieces we created to show the kids. Some of them are done by me, while some are done by the other volunteers. I feel like a kid when I did the art pieces. However, the feeling of childhood is so reminiscing.

More Art Materials
Here are more materials. They include all sorts of beans and nuts. We again tried to make use of these materials to allow the kids to display their creativity.

Art Materials
Similar to what the Indian ladies have done, it's time to make some minatures one to teach the kids. Here are some of the materials we used. Yes, if you look closely, you will realise these are spices. For instance, the long, brown sticks are in fact cinnamons. There are also chilli seeds. All these are spices that Indians like to use for cooking. However, we made use of these materials to design our bookmarks and magnets for the kids to display their creativity and to widen their knowledge of the spices.

Final Product
Wow! Isn't it lovely? The Indian ladies, who are the guests for the programme, prepared this wonderful art piece. They added colours to the artpiece with special coloured rice and papers. This is the final product of their hard work. It is so detailed and beautiful. However, I do not know if they can keep the art work at the end of the event. It is certainly a pity because the Indian ladies spent many hours working on it.

Volunteers & Me
I took with the staffs and volunteers during one of the events organised by the Asian Civilization Museum. I was there as a volunteer too, helping out the kids in the handicrafts room. The handcrafts session was part of the Indian culture programme of the day. It was certainly lots of fun working with the kids while displaying creativity in my own art pieces. Of course, I also had a great time working with the staffs and volunteers that day, which was also my last day of volunteer work at the museum.(That's why I took a photo so that I can include in my report and of course for the sake of momento.)

Hari Raya 03
I got to visit the Malay Village all thanks to my mum. She wants to join the RC to go on a night tour to Little India and Geylang Serai, so to accompany her, I joined her along. Although I did not buy anything, it is quite an experience for me. I might have gone before to these places with friends, but I have never gone at night. It's amazing how full of spirits and festive mood at these areas, especially in the night!

Hari Raya 02
Here is another photo I took at Malay Village.

Hari Raya 01
This is a photo taken at the Malay Village in Singapore. In fact, this is my first time visiting the place. This place of interest is like a mini Malay village. Just look at the architectures of the houses! They are made of wood and are very unique in designs. Now you can hardly find these types of houses in Singapore. Interestingly, this village sells a lot of homemade handicrafts that are rarely found. That makes the whole place rather special. Since the time when I went, it was close to Hari Raya, the area near the Malay Village is quite crowded (For those who do not know where this is located in Singapore, it's near to Paya Lebar MRT. It is also very near to Geylang Serai - an area allocated to the Malays during colonisation times.)
There are also a lot of "pasar malam" (night market in Malay) in Geylang Serai area. During the weeks before Hari Raya (when the Muslims are having "puasa" - fasting), the night markets there will be so crowded that people are already walking on one lane of the road.) If you like to eat supper, I think this will be a great place to go to during those festive seasons. Because the area will be filled with several food stalls. Besides, there will be other stalls selling all sorts of stuffs including bags, clothes.
