Here are some photos from my Argentina trip this August:
Friends' Corner
My roommates (Mi companeras de cuarto) - Carla de Peru, Fabiana de Arg (Salta), & Lhotse (Bolivia). I learnt a lot of Spanish from them during the forum, especially with the daily exposure of Spanish conversations they had in the room.
Rishab from India who is currently studying in my school. A fun and crazy guy who managed to pick up some Spanish phrases like ¨Eres hermana!¨. This is him dancing to the Latin music at John John Irish Pub on our first night after the forum...
[1st from the left]: Lucas from Argentina (Buenos Aires), [2nd from the right] Kaisa from Finland ...
And Ricardo from Spain, Lhotse from Peru, Sa'adia from Singapore (SMU), Carla and Johnny from Peru etc.
And many others from other countries like Chile, Costa Rica etc.
Beside the forum, I also joined Kaisa from Finland and Karla from Peru to dinner at La Estancia, a restaurant located near Calle Lavalle after shopping for clothes (as Kaisa lost her luggage in U.S.).
We also had our party at Mint, a club in Buenos Aires. Look at how happening and crowded it is!
Our last breakfast at Hotel Ushuaia (Nuestro ultimo desayuno)...
After the forum, I moved to Hostel Colonial, which is located at Tucuman. Some of the guys from the forum also shifted there.
One of the days I went shopping with these 2 guys - Johnny from Peru and Diego from Colombia. Among us, Diego is always the translator (as my Spanish is not up to standard and Johnny knows very little English). However, we ended up with Spanglish, which did work out somehow. It was fun hanging out with these 2 guys, especially seeing how they try to shop around for gifts for their girlfriends. I can see that they dote on their girlfriends a lot.
That's me with Diego and Johnny at San Martin after shopping the whole afternoon.
At night, we went to a Mexican restaurant - Cielito Lindo for dinner at Palermo Hollywood. Nice food. Nice ambience sitting by the roadside.
The next day, I met up with Karla and Carla for lunch with two other friends working as intern in Buenos Aires. The guy on the left is from Texas, United States and the one in the middle is from Peru.
We had lunch at Galerias Pacifico, one of the largest shopping mall in Buenos Aires, located at Calle Florida.
Then it was time for me to leave for Bariloche alone...Probably the only Asian on board.
After several hours on the bus, Lago Nahuel Huapi was finally in sight. Bariloche, here I come!
Reaching Bariloche, I found an accomodation at Hostel TangoInn, which is within 15 min walk from the bus terminal. However, walking on the street with snow falling on me, I was freezing cold and wet. I stayed in a 6-person dorm, met 2 Koreans and 1 girl from Buenos Aires. On my first day, I went Cerro Otto for snow trekking. Unfortunately, I don't have any of that photos because my camera gave up on me that day.
The next day, I went to Cerro Catedral, a ski centre with the Korean girl,, Yoon. I took up a two-hour crash course for skiing while Yoon took up snowboarding. However, I forgot to ask for English class and ended up learning nothing much about skiing. Hence, I spent the rest of my day touring around the place.
And that's me with my ski equipments.
A snowman at the ski mountain.
The last second day of my stay, I went to Isla Victoria, Puerto Pañuela, and Bosque de Arrayanes with Federico and Jordon.
At night, Iwent for some churros con chocolate with the guys at a café.
At Civic Centre in town...
On my last day, I walked around town and visited Cathedral Nuestra Senora del Nahuel Huapi.
